چکیده

Sawdust (SD) usually sourced from rubber plant is commonly used as substrate to cultivate the grey oyster mushroom Pleurotus sajor-caju in Malaysia. However, market price of SD increasing because its declining availability. Thus, this study aimed discover an alternative mushroom. The raw materials were oil palm pressed fiber (PPF), rice straw (RS) and SD, either alone or combination with different ratios including T1: 90% + 10% bran (commercial control); T2: 30% RS 20% 50% PPF; T3: T4: 100% RS; T5: PPF. suitability substrates was determined based on growth, yield, nutrition mineral content mushrooms. growth yield fruiting body showed significant differences. shortest harvesting day obtained T4 (100% RS) after 29 days, whereas longest T1 (90% bran) 51 days. highest T4. Nutrition analysis difference among treatments. amounts protein (26%) ash (1.29%) found T5. Overall, results that performance good but nutritional Therefore, PPF have impact for growers commercial production functional food industry reduce dependency.

Cultivation of different strains of king oyster mushroom (Pleurotus eryngii) on saw dust and rice straw in Bangladesh.

Pleurotus eryngii is a popular mushroom due to its excellent consistency of cap and stem, culinary qualities and longer shelf life. In Bangladesh, where Pleurotus mushrooms are very popular, P. eryngii may take position among the consumers, but currently this mushroom is not cultivated in large scale there. In this study, 3 strains of P. eryngii such as Pe-1 (native to Bangladesh), Pe-2 (germpl...

On the ability of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus sajor-caju) confering changes in proximate composition and sensory evaluation of chicken patty

The proximate composition and sensory evaluation of chicken patties incorporated with various levels of grey oyster mushroom (Pleurotus sajor-caju, PSC) were studied. The chicken patties were formulated with either 0%, 25% or 50% of fresh PSC. Results show chicken patty formulated with 25% PSC had protein content of 17.46% lower than the control patty which had 18.13% but it was not significant...

β-glucan-containing polysaccharide extract from the grey oyster mushroom [Pleurotus sajor-caju (Fr.) Sing.] stimulates glucose uptake by the L6 myotubes

Mushroom β-glucan has the ability to affect many cellular functions, including cellular glucose uptake. Although cumulative evidence in literature suggests a connection between β-glucan and reduction of blood glucose concentration, a mechanism of how β-glucan affects cellular glucose uptake has not been demonstrated. In this study, we analyzed the effect of β-glucan containing polysaccharide ex...

Differential regulation of laccase gene expression in Pleurotus sajor-caju.

Four laccase isozyme genes, Psc lac1, 2, 3 and 4 have been cloned from the edible mushroom, Pleurotus sajor-caju. The genes display a high degree of homology with other basidiomycete laccases (55-99%) at the amino acid level. Of the laccase genes isolated, Psc lac1 and 4 displayed the highest degree of similarity (85% at the amino acid level), while Psc lac3 showed the highest degree of diverge...
